Latest: Possible ‘call-in’ by Secretary of State delays Planning Approval

At the Strategic Planning Committee on 21st November, the planning application PA23/09752 for the proposed Green Ridge Resort development was approved by a vote of 5:4. A subsequent ‘call-in’ request to the Secretary of State has resulted in instruction to the Council “not to grant permission on this application without specific authorisation“.

While there is no guarantee of intervention or reversal of the planning decision at this stage, the Secretary of State will review the ‘call-in’ request.

Public Planning Objections: 347 | Supporting: 3 – as of 21st November 2024

Local residents of Mountjoy, Quintrell Downs and the surrounding areas seek your involvement and support in raising objection to the proposed development of a 400+ unit holiday park on the A392 between the A30 and Newquay, Cornwall.

The development will have a harmful and detrimental impact on residents and the local environment:

  • cause the loss of 71 Hectares of designated rural land
  • destroy wildlife and fauna habitat (affecting bats and owls)
  • destroy communities (Mountjoy, Lady Nance, Bejowan, Colan)
  • impact listed and historical buildings (incl. Grade I St Colanus Church)
  • create an unmanageable increase in traffic (Indian Queens, White Cross, Quintrell Downs, Newquay)
  • place significant additional demand on local water and sewage systems (incl. potential impact to beaches)
  • impact adjacent farmland (arable and livestock)
  • increase pressures on local health services (i.e. Newquay Hospital, GPs) and emergency services

We ask you read the planning application and to raise your objection via the Cornwall Council planning portal against the proposal:
